Sip Trip Saturday: Dainty Drips & May Sips

May came in soft, bloomed bold, and brewed beautifully—just the way I like my coffee and my weekends. This month’s Sip Trips took me from the charming, tucked-away Grind N Crepe in Occoquan, VA (yes to creme brûlée lattes and cobblestone strolls), to the bustle of Friedman’s Cafe tucked inside Hotel Edison, where I sipped espresso just steps from Times Square. In between café runs, a few Saturdays at home became my sanctuary—steeped in quiet meditations and reflections on the whirlwind of engagements, graduations, and those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it life shifts. May’s lineup? A mood. Let’s take a scroll through the sips and scenes that poured up more than just caffeine.
The first weekend of FIVE kicked off strong. As a lover of quirky bags, I dusted off my Charlie Brown which was featured in a previous Style Story: Good Grief. I found the sweatshirt this past Christmas at Box Lunch. This is a fun weekend look and I kept it simple with some pedal pushing leggings.

Loungewear Deets:
Nike Phoenix Fleece set (sold separately) and Kurt Geiger Slippers-Everything Nordies. Coffee Cup courtesty of my boys from a previous Mothers Day
As a homebody, there are weekends where "I got coffee at home" and as much as I wanna run around, sometimes my body is like NO. The weather will also dictate whether I stay home because well...I'm not snapping pics in the storm, lol. The Mother's Day Weekend was a good time to just REST. My balcony also got revamped so it's been extra cozy here. I also needed to be home because this Saturday was Mason's Prom n I needed to hover and ensure he got his azz up out the house in time for his haircut.

Loungewear Deets: Top & Bottom are SKIM (Nordstrom)
Wheeew!!! Weekend THREE of 5. I had two shindigs this weekend so I knew I wanted to enjoy coffee at home to mediate before venturing off into the day. I celebrated my girl LoLo's engagement in Bmore.
Sidenote: Check out her YT Channel-The Cysta's Chatroom for all your fragrance needs and reviews. So proud of her finding her lane in this arena.

Thereafter my brief stint in Bmore for a wonderful brunch, I had to whisk away to catch my first train ride to NY. I kinda like that way of transportation into the city vs the bus. This was a turn and burn kinda trip for my brothers graduation to receive his Doctorate degree on Sunday. For it to be such a busy weekend, I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating everyone in love. Of course I couldn't resist a Sunday Sip Trip before heading out:

Couture Deets: Vintage Blazer (my mama's), Lady and the Tramp Sweatshirt (Box Lunch) and straight leg pants (Nordstrom) w/ Vintage Zara mules (full pic above)
Weekend 4 of 5 had me forcing myself to stay out of a rut. I can feel when my energy is being drained and I need a recharge. Whether its from the daily hustle n bustle of going into the 9 to 5, the balance of squeezing in motion after work and just trying to stay afloat after overly consuming the swirls of life-I be needing a BREAK. This maybe TMI but...I can always tell when my cycle is near because I feel like my battery is on LOW and I want to be snuggled in bed vs the couch. It's during that nesting period where I take longer hot bubble baths and enjoy lit candles and jazz whispering in the air for some peace. I am also grieving around a time I'm EXTRA emotional. Grieving the lost of my grandma last year, grieving Mason's school age years being behind him and grieving what motherhood looks like as an upcoming empty nester. Maybe I have so much scatterbrain n overthinking in the mix-who knows but I can recognize the shift enough to know when I'm not being myself. Fret not, this too shall pass!
I'll savor the finale Sip Trip Lewk to close out May with a follow up to this post. Today is Mason's graduation and I'm too anxious to be online vs being in the moment of the milestone today. EEEK!!! So here's to more slow sips, sweet moments, and Saturdays that make space for it all—one dainty drip at a time.
