Structured Saturdays: Style, Sip, Repeat

There’s something about a crisp Saturday that brings out my inner curator—the version of me who treats a simple coffee run like a scene from my own autumn short film. To celebrate half of the month, I wanted to harken back to the last two weekends to share my style as I've been gallavanting to cafe's before I lock it down in hibernation prolly bout next month.

Two weeks ago, I wandered back to my tried-and-true caffeine haven, Grind n Crepe in Occoquan, where the caramel-brûlée sweetness of my latte pretty much melted into the copper and gold leaves swirling around the historic streets. It was one of those moments where the season sets the tone before you ever open your camera roll.

My look? A structured blazer from the men’s section at Nordstrom Rack—because sometimes the best silhouettes aren’t advertised to us—and the star players on my feet (if you know, you know… see this blog). It felt effortless, intentional, and very “me,” stitched together with just enough contrast to keep things interesting.

As this month’s Saturdays slipped by, I realized the blazer wasn’t just a wardrobe choice—it became the through line of my weekend identity. A quiet nod to structure in a season that’s all about soft transitions becuz it does get chilly in the am. Whether I was soaking in scenic pockets of fall or stepping into new moments of calm, that tailored layer helped frame the story without overwhelming it—sharp lines paired with dainty details, the exact balance my style has learned to master.

Notice my Tory Burch earrings to add a touch of polish while a thing gold banded watch peeks out the sleeve here n there and rings to replace the bangles I typically wear. I chose the aviator style shades to keep it "casual" since the overall look can be considered fancy. Also, I don't know if I'm suppose to take off the green tags on the sleeve or not, lol. Either way, I'm keepin it on-kinda like how they do the sticker to ball caps! Do NOT over accessorize the look. I chose the Marc Jacobs bag (old from Nordies) to round out the look as a pop of color even tho the "pop" is still a shade in line of subtle n sweet neutral shades to compliment the blazer.

For the 2nd weekend of the month, I found myself drifting down to Mosaic District to Maman Coffee spot. I love escaping here before the stores open and if I could live in that district I would. It has everything my heart desires (except Wegman's, lol).
This is my 2nd visit and both times I've gotten the Honey Lavender Latte. The first was better than the last so next time, I'll try another flavor. It's so peaceful to enjoy a shopping center to myself aside from the joggers, strollers n dog walkers here n there. I stopped over there to kill some time before Nordstrom opened-it's less than 10 min away but more importantly...let's get into this look.

Aaaaah...this blazer my darlings...when it's meant to be it will be. If you can recall, I almost didn't have this in my clutches as it was the one that almost got away here. I'm not much of a coat kinda gal but I'll always love a good blazer. This sporty one with sweater sleeves gave me the best of both worlds. Under it, I have on the Ralph Lauren tshirt hoodie from a previous Nsale found here. Didn't think I'd like it as much as I do, it's lightweight and comfy but more importantly layers well w/my blazers. I kept the look casual with my Hoka's.

The oversized sunglasses were the perfect touch and found here. I picked em with the clear frames because I didn't wanna wear black nor brown. I chose these to distract yall from my "furlough" ponytail lol. If ever you wanna add some drama to your look...wear your blazer as a cape. The way it drapes on your shoulders will have you feeling regal and straightens your posture to have you walk into the coffee shop with poise. I could've ran errands all morning into the late afternoon with this outfit.
Rounding up these last two weekends, I’m reminded that sometimes it’s the subtle, consistent pieces that anchor the narrative. Consider this my November note-to-self: when in doubt, throw on the blazer and let the day reveal the rest.
