This month, I didn't really have a well thought out theme to go by but Sharisse doesn't disappoint and still hits it on the mark. Often times as we are chatting during service, I'll glance at the color board of polishes behind me to see what catches my eye and from there, we come up with combos. I'm ALWAYS in a pink mood. Whether its bright to dainty ballerina pink shades but I was also feeling a need for some rose gold. After she did a swatch of some shades-it hit me....
I was instantly taken back to the 80's and recall watching the cartoon about a chick who would change into her alter ego and perform with her band. She'd often times try to keep the identities separate...like a female version of Superman in a sense and her rivarly band was called The Misfits. It's so funny recalling the show through my nails yet it made me happy at the same time reflecting on childhood memories. That's the joy I get with looking down at my nails every now and then to admire the color combo and my own alter ego with my hands. My signature of my left hand being the over the top n artsy side of me vs the solid color right hand which is more reserved and less abrasive in demeanor. The ring finger is always a different shade because it's my indecisiveness in picking just one color. I like options!!

Fun Fact Flashback: Jem and the Holograms premiered in 1985 and ran until 1988, mixing glam rock with secret identities way before it was trendy. Jem’s real name was Jerrica Benton, who transformed into her pink-haired alter ego with the help of Synergy, a high-tech holographic computer left behind by her father. The show's iconic line—“Showtime, Synergy!”—triggered her transformation into a rockstar. The band was all about bold makeup, wild fashion, and even wilder rivalries, especially with The Misfits (the original girl group meanies). It was camp, chaos, and girl power wrapped in glitter, and yes… it was truly, truly outrageous.

Sometimes a polish pick isn’t about precision—it’s about a vibe, a flicker of a memory, a glance at a color that sparks a whole mood. This month, my nails whispered a little “Jem and the Holograms” magic into my everyday, reminding me how something as simple as a swatch can summon joy, confidence, and a playful alter ego.
Here’s to colors that spark nostalgia, duality in style, and May moments that are, without a doubt...Truly Outrageous. 💖🎤💅
