As Labor Day weekend closed out summer—the season of family reunions, back-to-school routines, and last-minute escapes before the grind of the fiscal year—I’ve found myself
reflecting on the highs and hiccups of the past few months. True to form, I’m keeping it simple with my Top 5 this week and breaking it up so I don’t ramble, but each one is rooted in real lessons I’ve had to face this year.
In case you missed it, Lesson Numma 2 here
Take the Trip
Social media will pump you up with "catching flights not feelings" and profess how "if he don't have a passport, ion want 'em". Don't let them beachfronts and jetsets fool you to think if you not headed to Brazil or Tahiti your trips aren't post worthy. It can be a staycation or turn n burn to an undiscovered town within a few hours. Planned or spontaneous, just take the trip. I may not be a jet-setter with thousands of frequent flyer miles, but I’ve stacked up plenty of “Passenger Princess” miles on the road this season.

From my very first work trip to a few unexpected road trips I never saw coming, each one gave me the gift of a change in scenery and fresh perspective. Travel doesn’t have to mean a passport stamp—sometimes it’s just about saying yes to stepping away from routine. There’s no better time than now to go, whether near or far, because the memories made and the energy gained are worth more than waiting for the “perfect” time.
These trips taught me that motion itself can be medicine—sometimes all you need is a new road to spark a new view. In Lesson Four, I’ll reflect on how gratitude shaped the way I embraced each moment.
