Dear Nike, Cut the Check

Writer's picture: kisha no ekisha no e

When sporty meets dainty, you KNOW it’s a vibe worth cashing in on. I took the classic edge of the Phoenix Fleece Shacket and Street Parachute Pants both by Nike and gave them a signature remix—think relaxed streetwear with a polished, feminine twist. This look is all about balancing bold, athletic vibes with delicate details that keep it effortlessly chic. Who says you can’t be sporty annnnnd stylish? Nike, you might want to take notes… or better yet, cut the check. Let’s get into how this look came to life!

I am all for being as comfy as possible n although I love all the extra's of being fancy, my goal now n days are minimum effort n maximum effect. As much as I love to dress up, I appreciate dressing down so how can I merge the two for a balance that gives me the best of both worlds? I wanna be able to walk the red carpet n also change my shoes if needed to a quick round to walk the track.

When I was frolicking throughout Nordies, both of these pieces popped up separately n I toggled between the 2 and envisioned what it would look like together. I knew I'd get the shacket ($90, Size L) to utilize in many different looks but the street parachute pants ($90, Size XL) I pondered on due to the full price tag so I added it to the wishlist in hopes of a sale-NOPE!! The look in my head kept nagging me so I ordered...begrungedly!!

Note: The alignment of the white line that transitioned from the bag to the pants was NOT on purpose

This look came on a whim. I had time n wanted to go out to dinner after working from home n was in a creative mood. I used the foundation of the main two pieces n built from there. I don't think the belt is available any longer becuz I can't find to link. The shoes are Dior inspired found at Amazon. Grab them here. Yall have seen me in this Nike bag several times over since getting it last year or so. It's become a weekend staple during colder months. I was actually just looking for a simple black croc clutch n it wasn't within reach, lol.

I'm proud of how I freestyled the look n it came together because I didn't think I'd take it as far as I did. I only intended to wear the two pieces by itself. The polka dot jacket is vintage Farm Rio that gave flair to the look. I'd also swap the slingbacks for my black n white Nike "tenny shoes" (we refer to sneakers as tennis shoe in the DMV) for a laid back look n ditch the belt to relax it altogether. In true fashion to detail; even my sunglasses (gifted by the bestie) were used to keep it sporty with aviator frames becuz any other frames would've drowned out the whole look OR I would've removed the jacket and/or belt. Again, the key is finding the balance.

So what did we learn in class today boys n girls? The lesson of the day is...use your imagination n get creative. I took two basic pieces n raised the bar by adding a few accessories. The embellishments you add MUST harmonize with the look in a manner where you don't look like your doing TEW much on purpose-remember...effortlessly! From head to toe, I meticulously craft how I wear a look (notice you don't see dangly earrings nor bangles on the wrist) to not overwhelm u guys. Too much of anything can end up bein...tacky n screams trying too hard. You will see this look remix'd in different ways n separately as well.

At the intersection of hustle and style, the message is clear: show up, show out, and let the work speak for itself. Now Nike, it’s your move—CUT THE CHECK 🏁✔️
